Argentine superstar Lionel Messi made history by playing in the FIFA World Cup for the record sixth time. He gave a brilliant hat-trick in his first match to give world champion Argentina a 3-0 victory. Argentina easily defeated Algeria with Messi’s impeccable skills.
Football fans enjoyed Messi’s extraordinary performance in the match held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, USA, in the presence of 69,045 spectators. The Argentine captain scored all three goals, spreading terror in the opponent’s defense throughout the match.
With this hat-trick, Messi increased his goal tally in World Cup history to 16. As a result, he touched the record of 16 goals of German legend Miroslav Klose in the list of highest scorers in the World Cup. It was also Messi’s first hat-trick in a World Cup.
The match was another special milestone for the 38-year-old Messi. It was his 200th international match. He also became the first player in football history to play in six World Cups.
