Prominent businessman and philanthropist Monzurur Rahman has been unanimously re-elected as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Pubali Bank PLC for a further term of two years.
The decision was taken at the 1520th Meeting of the Board of Directors of the bank.
Monzurur Rahman began his long banking career in 1967 by joining Eastern Mercantile Bank, the predecessor of Pubali Bank, as its youngest director. Following the privatization of Pubali Bank, he served as Chairman of the Board from 25 January 1985 to 18 January 1986. He has again been serving as Chairman since 31 July 2020.
Over the years, his leadership has been associated with the bank’s continued growth, modernization, and expansion in Bangladesh’s private banking sector.
He also serves as Chairman of Rema Tea Company Limited and was previously an Independent Director of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited.
Born into the distinguished Kazi Bari family of Cheora village under Chauddagram Upazila in Cumilla district, Monzurur Rahman comes from a lineage with strong contributions to business and entrepreneurship. His father, the late Khan Bahadur Mukhlesur Rahman, was a successful tea planter and a graduate of Calcutta University.
The Board of Directors of Pubali Bank PLC congratulated Monzurur Rahman on his re-election and expressed confidence in his continued leadership for the bank’s future growth and achievements.
