Desk Report:
Noting that every post in public administration is important for the government, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that officials must have the mentality of fulfilling their responsibilities in all posts.
He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of the District Commissioner (DC) Conference at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Sunday (May 3, 2026) morning.

The Prime Minister said that if professionalism is compromised just to get a promotion or posting in a preferred position, it may temporarily provide personal benefits, but the overall efficiency and impartiality of public administration is damaged. He warned that the mentality of always being in a preferred position is one of the reasons for corruption and unprofessional behavior.

He called on the administration officials to be ready to perform their duties anywhere, at any time in the country and to consider each post as equally important.

The Prime Minister also said that honesty, merit and efficiency will be established as the main basis for appointment, transfer and promotion. At the same time, the government is determined to recruit manpower for vacant posts with transparency and speed, form a strong Public Service Commission, formulate private service rules, and ensure accountability at all levels of administration.
Ministers of various ministries, advisory councils, cabinet secretaries, chiefs of armed forces, divisional commissioners, and district administrators, along with senior officials, were present at the inaugural ceremony.
