Young students are the future leaders of the country: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said that young students are the future of the future and the future leaders of the country will be created from among them. He urged the students to develop themselves through education and sports.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Natun Kuri Sports-2026’ organized at Sylhet Stadium on Saturday (May 2, 2026) afternoon. This event was held simultaneously in 64 districts of the country including Sylhet at the initiative of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The Prime Minister told the students, “I want each of you to be an ambassador of Bangladesh. You have to take responsibility for the country, because you are the future.”

He also said, “Now you have to study and play. Whoever wants to be a player, he will be a player; whoever wants to learn music, he will learn music. We will create that opportunity, God willing.”

At one point in her speech, she expressed her interest in speaking directly to the students outside the formalities, which created great enthusiasm among the young students present.

At the beginning of the program, BKSP students displayed captivating acrobatics in a total of 8 events including cricket, football, kabaddi, athletics, chess, badminton, swimming and martial arts. The Prime Minister enjoyed their performance and encouraged them with applause.

During this, a documentary on ‘Natun Kudi Sports’ was screened and the theme song titled “Amar Notun, Amar Kudi” was played.

Referring to the young students present at the program as the real chief guests, the Prime Minister said, “You who are sitting in the gallery today are the real chief guests of this program.”

At the end of her speech, the Prime Minister formally inaugurated ‘Natun Kudi Sports-2026’ simultaneously in 64 districts of the country including Sylhet. At the same time, she unveiled the trophy and logo.

State Minister for Sports Aminul Haque and Sports Secretary Mahbub-ul Alam spoke at the event.

In addition, the Prime Minister’s wife Zubaida Rahman, Commerce Minister Khandaker Abdul Muktadir, Water Resources Minister Md. Shahiduddin Chowdhury Annie, Expatriate Welfare Minister Ariful Haque Chowdhury, Advisor to the Prime Minister Humayun Kabir, Whip of Parliament GK Gaus, MPs Tahsina Rushdir Luna and MA Malek, Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Qayyum Chowdhury and senior government officials were present.
