AmCham to work with government to bring new US investment to Bangladesh

A delegation from the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham Bangladesh), an organization of US-based business entities based in Bangladesh, paid a courtesy call on Finance Minister Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury at the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday (June 25, 2026).

The main purpose of the meeting was to introduce the newly elected executive committee of AmCham to the finance minister and exchange views on various priorities of the national budget for the fiscal year 2026-27.

The delegation, led by AmCham President Syed Mohammad Kamal, was attended by Vice President Ala Ahmed, Treasurer Reza-ur-Rahman Mahmud, Executive Committee Members Habibur Rahman Bhuiyan, Rashel Mamun, Ataur Rahim Chowdhury and Members Md. Moinul Haque, Sabbir Ahmed and Momshad Khan.

The delegation highlighted the continued contributions of US investors to Bangladesh’s energy, insurance, financial services, digital economy, FMCG and ready-made garments (RMG) sectors, among other important sectors. At the same time, various views and recommendations of the private sector were presented to further improve the country’s investment climate.

The delegation, while mentioning the 2026-27 national budget as a growth-oriented and positive initiative, emphasized its effective implementation to achieve its desired benefits.

The meeting held constructive discussions on the need to further strengthen investor confidence, ensure policy stability and predictability, and enhance closer cooperation between the government and the private sector for sustainable economic growth.
