Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is visiting China, has held a courtesy call on Chairman of the Standing Committee of the country’s National People’s Congress (NPC) Zhou Lezhi.
The meeting was held at the historic Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Friday (June 26, 2026) morning, Chinese local time. The meeting discussed Bangladesh-China bilateral relations, parliamentary cooperation, economic partnership and various issues of mutual interest, sources said.
Earlier, at 9:15 am, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman paid deep respect to China’s revolutionary heroes by laying a wreath at the People’s Heroes Monument located in Beijing’s historic Tiananmen Square.
At this time, the national anthems of Bangladesh and China were played and a sad tune was played on the bugle. After laying the wreath, the Prime Minister stood in silence for a while to pay tribute to the memory of the brave martyrs of China.
The Prime Minister was accompanied by his wife Dr. Zubaida Rahman, Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman, Information and Broadcasting Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Water Resources Minister Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, Economic Advisor to the Prime Minister Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Foreign Affairs Advisor to the Prime Minister Humayun Kabir, Education, Primary and Mass Education, Expatriate Welfare and Overseas Employment and Labor and Employment Advisor Mahdi Amin, and Additional Press Secretary to the Prime Minister Atiqur Rahman Rumon, along with senior officials accompanying the delegation.
