Desk Report:
Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr. ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon said that urgent measures will be taken to resolve the problem of BUET’s residential halls. He said that if students have problems with accommodation, their studies will also be disrupted. There is a shortage of seats in BUET’s residential halls. These problems will be resolved.
He said these things as the chief guest at the introduction ceremony of new students of the 2025-26 academic year of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) in Dhaka on Saturday (June 27, 2026).
The minister said that BUET students are very talented. But even talented students can sometimes go astray. A very sad incident happened here once, which no one can forget. To preserve that memory, we will request the Prime Minister to build a hall in the name of Abrar Fahad.
He also said that the ‘Research Grant’ will be increased to improve the quality of research in universities. Besides, many labs used in research are still not modern and up to standard. Old equipment is being used in many labs. Appropriate measures will be taken to modernize these labs.
The program was presided over by Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Ekramul Haque, while Prime Minister’s Education Advisor Dr. Mahdi Amin and BUET Pro-Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Hasib Chowdhury were present as special guests.
