Diplomatic Desk:

Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam has reiterated Bangladesh’s strong commitment to establishing inclusive and citizen-centric digital governance. He said that Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) is not just a technological infrastructure, but it is an effective tool for establishing good governance.

He said this while participating in the high-level roundtable meeting of the ‘UN Public Service Forum-2026’ held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on Wednesday (June 25, 2026). At the meeting, he outlined Bangladesh’s future action plan to build inclusive digital public infrastructure and ensure active participation of citizens in government services.

The minister said, “For Bangladesh, DPI is not just a matter of technology; it is one of the foundations of good governance. Our goal is that even a citizen of the most remote areas of the country can receive government services with the same ease as a resident of the capital.”

He also said that the current government under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is firmly committed to building a ‘digital-first governance’ system.

Fakir Mahbub Anam said that currently, citizens of the country can easily receive integrated government services through ‘EkPay’, ‘myGov’ app, national web portal and national call center ‘333’. In addition, the government is working to ensure affordable high-speed internet and smart devices for all citizens of the country within the next three years.

Regarding receiving citizens’ opinions and complaints, he said that people can directly express their opinions and complaints through the Cabinet Division’s Grievance Redress System (GRS) and e-Participation platform. He also said that there are plans to launch ‘e-participation rankings’ soon to further strengthen the accountability of government institutions.

The forum, organized by the United Nations, brought together ministers, policymakers and international experts from various countries. Various strategies were discussed to ensure innovative, inclusive and citizen-friendly government services to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
