Diplomatic Desk:
On Sunday (28 June 2026) at 11:00 am, Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), former Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and former Minister for Environment and International Development of Norway, paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir at his office.

He was accompanied by Kavin Kumar Kandasamy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of ProClime. He is an international climate entrepreneur working on carbon markets, climate finance, biochar and sustainable development initiatives in South Asia.
Dr. Saimum Parvez, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Environment, Forests and Climate Change, was present at the meeting.

During the courtesy call, various issues related to climate change mitigation, environmental protection, carbon credits, green investment, renewable energy and expanding cooperation between Bangladesh and international partners in the sustainable development sector were discussed.
Both sides expressed optimism about the opportunities for climate-resilient development and environmentally friendly investment in Bangladesh and expressed interest in further strengthening mutual cooperation in this sector in the future.
