A delegation of 11 (eleven) members from marginal farmers from different unions of Durgapur Upazila of Netrokona district paid a courtesy call on Deputy Speaker of the National Parliament of Bangladesh, Barrister Kaiser Kamal, MP, today at the National Parliament Building.
On Monday (June 29, 2026), a delegation of 11 (eleven) members from different unions of Durgapur, his constituency in Netrokona district, paid a courtesy call on him. During the meeting, the members of the delegation highlighted various problems and opportunities of marginal farmers in terms of increasing agricultural production, providing harvester machinery, making fertilizers and quality seeds available, expanding irrigation facilities, ensuring fair prices for agricultural products, increasing access to subsidies and agricultural loans, and coping with the effects of climate change.

They also drew the Deputy Speaker’s attention to various public welfare issues including construction of roads, bridges and culverts in the area, prevention of river erosion, creation of a drug-free society, obtaining family cards and farmer cards. They also praised the government’s continuous initiatives in formulating and implementing agriculture-friendly policies.
Deputy Speaker Barrister Kaiser Kamal listened to the delegation’s statements with attention and patience and said, “I am grateful to you. I was elected by your vote. I want to serve you and the country with honesty and dedication. The contribution of marginal farmers is very important in ensuring the country’s economy and food security.”
He said that the government is working relentlessly to ensure the welfare of farmers and ensure fair prices for their produce. The government is implementing various activities to make agriculture more sustainable, productive and profitable by using modern agricultural technology, expanding high-quality seeds, fertilizers and irrigation facilities, providing agricultural incentives and providing agricultural loans on easy terms.
The Deputy Speaker further said that one of the goals of the government’s development plan is to strengthen the rural economy and ensure the improvement of the quality of life of farmers. To this end, the government is determined to make agricultural services more effective at the field level, increase the use of modern agricultural technology and expand the necessary support for farmers.
He assured that the issues of construction of roads, bridges and culverts in the area, prevention of river erosion, creation of a drug-free society and obtaining farmer cards will be seriously considered. At the same time, he called on public representatives, government institutions and farmers to work together for the development of the country’s agriculture and farmers.
He further said, “The development of farmers means the development of the country. Therefore, the National Parliament and the government will always play a cooperative role in implementing the necessary laws, policies and programs to protect the interests of farmers.” He also emphasized on increasing the capacity of farmers to face the challenges of climate change and expanding the technology-based agricultural system.
The members of the marginal farmers’ delegation expressed their sincere gratitude to the Deputy Speaker for listening to their statements attentively and sought his continued cooperation in solving the problems of the farmers and the overall development of the area. The courtesy call was held in a very sincere and cordial atmosphere.
