Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has officially inaugurated the ‘Nazrul Year 2026–2027’ celebration program simultaneously across the country. He inaugurated the program through video conference from the Bangladesh Secretariat on Thursday (July 2, 2026) morning.
At the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister said that national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is not only past history, but he is also a source of eternal inspiration for future generations. He is an inevitable part of our lives.

The Prime Minister said, “In every state and society, some such momentary people are born who have a profound impact on our socio-economic, political life, literature, culture, social values, social philosophy and psychology. Poet Nazrul is such a momentary personality. From adolescence to adulthood—his influence at every stage of life is immense.”

The Prime Minister unveiled the logo and commemorative postage stamp of “Nazrul Year 2026–2027” at the three-day inaugural ceremony.

The event, chaired by Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, was addressed by State Minister Ali Newaz Mahmud Khayyam, Prime Minister’s Information, Broadcasting and Cultural Affairs Advisor Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Cabinet Secretary Nasimul Gani and Secretary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs Kaneez Maula.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Information Minister Zahir Uddin Swapan, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Abu Abdullah M. Saleh (Saleh Shibli), along with senior government officials, Nazrul researchers, cultural activists, artists and eminent personalities of the country.
On the occasion of “Nazrul Year 2026–2027”, various cultural and research programs will be organized nationwide to highlight the life, literature, music, and philosophy of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam to the new generation throughout the year.
